The Story

I Digress deals with the struggle of modern adulthood in the age of social media. As the facade becomes more perfect, the reality becomes more unruly.

It’s a dramedy, told through the bold and humorous voice of Sofia and her squad of ambitious yet uncertain Millennials. Each perspective reflects a different version of the struggle to traverse the web that is their young adult lives - made up of proliferating strands intertwined through social media. All while putting on a pretty face 💁🏼.

I Digress portrays two realities. There’s the filtered world, where characters put on their best front of perfection. But this inevitably digresses into a more chaotic reality through fluid flashbacks, flash-forwards and imaginations, not to fill plot lines, but to illuminate what the characters are not willing to admit to the people around them or even themselves.

This duality is even more apparent through the show’s social media extension. The characters have authentic social media accounts that where we can more regularly engage with our audience and address everything from their personal conflicts to issues happening in the world.

Unlike most of what we see on TV, this is not a linear story about either love or career, it’s about surviving in this new, chaotic world of tech and trump - so it can go in so many directions while remaining relevant and without repeating the same story line.

But ultimately it’s about these characters learning to rise above the chaos by finding inner strength and understanding, which eventually allows them to create a positive force that reaches far beyond themselves.
